With the new year on the horizon, we here at UCP have reflected on the challenges and successes that came during 2020.While Covid-19 may have affected our work, we have stayed consistent in our mission to promote the independence, productivity, and full citizenship of people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. Here are some of the highlights from our year here at UCP of Mobile. UCP’s Electronics Recycling services have been operational, except for about 3 weeks out of 2020. We are proud of this program, as over 500 tons of products have been recycled and money has been raised to benefit various services. The Preschool and Adult Day programs are officially reopened, offering children and adults alike a safe space to learn and grow. Both programs have implemented a variety of new safety procedures to ensure these programs remain open.Early Intervention was able to effectively employ technology to deliver client services remotely. Even amid the pandemic, the staff was able to reach about 95% of their caseload. Services such as speech, occupational, and physical therapy have continued to be provided.Supported Employment has continued services both remotely and in person. Of course some work places closed due to COVID-19, but we strove to stay in contact with all clients.Childcare Enhancement with a Purpose (CCEP) continues to maintain contact with clients and daycares in the area. Education trainings were conducted through Zoom and various electronic methods.Despite the difficulties and uncertainties of this year, UCP has been able to keep our staff employed and continue to serve the community. And although much of our fundraising opportunities were hindered, many businesses and individuals in the community stepped up! We greatly appreciate any and everyone who supported UCP this year. UCP relies heavily on community support and this year was no exception. Thank you all for your support, it is crucial to what we do.Merry Christmas and happy holidays from United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile! ... See MoreSee Less
